GTA VI lands on November 19, and Indian players keep asking the same four questions. What does it cost, which edition makes sense, when can I actually play, and do I need to pre-order? Here’s what Rockstar has confirmed, what only store listings suggest, and the order I’d do things in.
What’s confirmed, and what isn’t
Rockstar says Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and describes it as a single-player experience. Take-Two’s press release puts the Standard Edition at $79.99. Digital pre-orders can preload from November 12. Boxed copies contain a download code instead of a disc and are available from that same date.
There’s no PC version announced, and GamingBible reports it isn’t coming to PS4 or Xbox One either. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed the download size or, officially, the regional unlock times. The date has already slipped twice, to May 26, 2026 and then to November 19, so keep that in mind when deciding how much money to commit early. The launch trailer on October 15 kept the November date.
India price and the edition call
Rockstar’s own announcements only list US prices. The India figures below come from PlayStation and Xbox store listings as reported by Indian outlets including Digit and Tech2. Check your own store before you pay.
| Standard | Ultimate | |
|---|---|---|
| US price | $79.99 | $99.99 |
| India (store listings) | ₹5,999 | ₹7,499 |
| What you get | Base game plus the Vintage Vice City Pack | Standard plus premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and five single-player stores |
| Upgrade later | n/a | Available to Standard owners |
The gap in India is ₹1,500. Windows Central notes the Ultimate stores include Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie’s, and that they’re locked to that edition. The upgrade price is the loose end. Some outlets say $20 while GamingBible says the fee isn’t confirmed. Reports also disagree on whether Ultimate includes an exclusive mission, so Rockstar’s own page is the one to trust.
What a pre-order actually gets you
Rockstar says every pre-order or purchase before November 20 gets the Vintage Vice City Pack. That means you don’t need to pre-order to get it, since buying on launch day still counts. What a digital pre-order does buy you is the November 12 preload and, per Take-Two’s wording, a free month of GTA+. Digit’s reading is that any edition bought before November 20 gets the GTA+ month, so go with Take-Two’s wording unless your store listing says otherwise.
If you want reviews first, Insider Gaming reports they’ll go live before launch, but Rockstar hasn’t announced an embargo. Waiting for reviews costs you the preload but not the Pack, as long as you buy before November 20.
When it unlocks in India
Rockstar hasn’t confirmed regional unlock times, as GamingBible noted on October 13. The best evidence is PlayStation Store listings. GTAVice, Digit and Croma all report that India’s listing shows 12:00 AM IST on November 19, which is 18:30 UTC on November 18. New Zealand unlocks about 7.5 hours earlier.
Some sites claim a single global unlock at 5:00 AM UTC, which would be 10:30 AM IST, and one outlet printed different times again. Those claims rest on thinner sourcing than the store-listing reports, so I’d plan for midnight IST. Check your own PlayStation or Microsoft Store countdown in the final week, because Rockstar hasn’t confirmed Xbox timing separately.
Getting your console ready
Rockstar hasn’t published a download size. The practical move is to clear generous storage, turn on automatic downloads, and keep your console software current. One unconfirmed datamine, reported by GamingBible, suggests the PS5 version may need firmware 14.10.00.00. Treat that as a rumor, but keeping your console updated costs nothing.
Buy only from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, or a reputable retailer, because fake key sellers appear around every big launch. Leakers have also threatened to post material before release. Don’t chase it, since it’s a spoiler and a malware risk, and mute keywords on social media after November 12.
My recommendation
Based on what’s confirmed, I’d split it by situation:
- PS5 or Xbox owner who’s definitely playing day one: pre-order the Standard Edition digitally at ₹5,999, preload on November 12, and decide on the Ultimate upgrade after launch. The upgrade exists, so you don’t have to guess now.
- You want reviews first: wait, but buy before November 20 to keep the Pack. You’ll give up the preload and probably the GTA+ month.
- PC player: wait. Nothing is announced, so any “PC pre-order” is a scam.
I’d also check the store’s pre-order cancellation terms before paying, given the delays.

Yes. Standard owners can buy an Ultimate upgrade, though the price isn’t consistently reported.
